Happy Book Birthday, Susan Detwiler!

Major woohoo’s to our fellow blogger Susan Detwiler on the release of The Sparrow and the Trees (Arbordale Publishing), written by Sharon Chriscoe and illustrated by Susan!

Susan Detwiler is the illustrator of several books for children including On the MoveBig Cat, Little Kitty, and the award-winning titles Pandas’ Earthquake Escape and One Wolf Howls. She is the author/illustrator of Fine Life For A Country Mouse. Susan is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators. Her illustrations have appeared in the children’s magazines Highlights for Children and Ladybug, and her artwork has also been used for puzzles, games, and greeting cards. Books have always been a source of joy in her life, and as a child she particularly loved books with beautiful illustrations. Susan was educated at the Maryland Institute College of Art and lives with her artist husband in Baltimore. About Susan Mannix

Susan worked as a biomedical research editor for the Department of the Navy for fourteen years and has been a member of SCBWI since 2007. She writes young adult and middle grade novels. When she isn’t writing, she spends her time doing all things horses, including attending her teenaged daughters’ many competitions. Susan lives in Maryland on a small farm with her husband, two children, an adorable black lab, two cats, and three horses.
