From Lightbulb to Keyboard: Cindy Callaghan

Happy Tuesday, everyone!

Here’s another From Lightbulb to Keyboard, this time with author Cindy Callaghan, who wrote JUST ADD MAGIC and the upcoming LOST IN LONDON!

So, Cindy, you’ve just been inspired with a fantastic, breathtaking idea for a novel. What’s your next step after a light bulb moment?

If it’s that BIG thing? I draft and draft, day and night, in my office, in the car and on the treadmill. On paper, napkins, cardboard….whatever …until I get the idea out. This can take many weeks during which it’s hard to think of little else. I LOVE that first draft frenzy. This was very much my experience with JUST ADD MAGIC. Once I had the idea for a secret cooking club, I couldn’t stop writing until I had told the whole story. And then begins the very long process of revising, which I find less of a “rush”.

Thanks, Cindy!

And happy writing and drawing, everyone! 🙂

About Laura Bowers

Laura is a writer, runner, reader, runDisney addict, and blogger at As The Eraser Burns, Joyful Miles, and Write, Run, Rejoice. In the past, she's been a waitress, telemarketer, cook, real estate agent, and during her college days, a costumed character at holiday parades. (Memories of being terrorized as a candy cane still haunt her at night.) At the age of thirty, she pursued her dream of being a writer. Her first novel, Beauty Shop for Rent, a “Steel Magnolias for teens,” was inspired by a rusted sign by a charming old house, and now, she can honestly say that writing is a thousand times more rewarding than being a candy cane!
