This weekend’s ABC Event with Edie Hemingway and Lois Szymanski!

Happy Tuesday, everyone!

I wanted to send out a reminder of our next awesome ABC Event to be held this Saturday, June 16th in Newark, Delaware featuring our wonderful regional advisors, Edie Hemingway and Lois Szymanski!

LOIS SZYMANSKI is the author of 22 books for children including young reader, middle grade and picture book fiction and several nonfiction books. Out in 2012 are WILD COLT, a picture book written in light rhyme about a colt on Assateague Island, and CHINCOTEAGUE PONIES: UNTOLD TAILS, a nonfiction book for all ages.

Find out how Lois finds, harvests and organizes ideas for multiple sales, how she plots, gets to know her characters, plods through rewrites and edits and works through the dreaded “writers  block.”

EDIE HEMINGWAY is the author of several middle grade novels, including ROAD TO TATER HILL, the story of a young girl coping with the loss of her baby sister and winner of the Parent’s Choice Gold Award. Her co-authored middle grade historical novel, BROKEN DRUM, is based on a true story and currently optioned for a movie.

Join both authors, Edie Hemingway and Lois Szymanski, for a workshop on the well-worn writers rule, Show, Don’t Tell. Come prepared to write. Hear and analyze samples that tell the story and see how that same story comes to life when rewritten.

Don’t miss this wonderful FREE event with book sales and an autograph session!

It will be held at the Newark Library, 750 Library Avenue, Newark, Delaware. Hope to see you there!

About Laura Bowers

Laura is a writer, runner, reader, runDisney addict, and blogger at As The Eraser Burns, Joyful Miles, and Write, Run, Rejoice. In the past, she's been a waitress, telemarketer, cook, real estate agent, and during her college days, a costumed character at holiday parades. (Memories of being terrorized as a candy cane still haunt her at night.) At the age of thirty, she pursued her dream of being a writer. Her first novel, Beauty Shop for Rent, a “Steel Magnolias for teens,” was inspired by a rusted sign by a charming old house, and now, she can honestly say that writing is a thousand times more rewarding than being a candy cane!

Oh, I wish it was closer. Lois and Edie are great. BTW, MapQuest listed it as the New Castle County Library.

  2. This event sounds powerful. There’s going to be so much opportunity for learning! I wish I could be in Maryland, but I’ll be there in spirit. I hope a lot of writers take advantage of the wealth of knowledge and experience that’s going to be available. I’m sooo jealous.
