The Children’s Book Guild welcomes the attendance of SCBWI members at its Thursday, December 8th luncheon at which Caldecott-winning illustrator Paul Zelinsky will present this program:
Perfection: Who Needs It?
How an obsessive personality, in addition to driving other people crazy, has helped this illustrator approach his goal: to achieve the ideal fit of pictures to words. How he seeks out clever ways to do stupid things. And how a collaboration with an even more obsessive paper engineer led to happiness for some, and to the most elaborate movable book mechanism ever published. Paul O. Zelinsky has illustrated thirtyish books for children, written some of them, and been awarded numerous honors, including the Caldecott Medal and three Caldecott Honors.
