Woo-HOO news and a YouTube Break!

Happy Wednesday, everyone!

REGIONAL AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT

Congratulations and a mighty woo-HOO to Debbie Levy, who has recently learned that her stunning novel, THE YEAR OF GOODBYES, Disney-Hyperion 2010, is on the Master List for Vermont’s Dorothy Canfield Fisher Award 2011-2012, and is a 2012 Nominee for New York State’s Charlotte Award!

Her novel is also a 2011 Sydney Taylor Notable Book, and a CCBC Choices 2011 book (the annual best-of-the-year list of the Cooperative Children’s Book Center).   But it is possible that what she’s most excited about are the works of art and poetry she’s received recently from high school students to express their reaction to the book.  She’s started posting one each week on the Year of Goodbyes blog, www.theyearofgoodbyes.com.

That’s fantastic news, Debbie, congratulations!

Congratulations and a mighty woo-HOO also to regional member Carollyne Hutter, who will be a consulting editor for the children’s magazine for their issue on weather and climate. (Not the one pictured.)  As the consulting editor, she will help select story ideas and help shape the issue.

Wow, talk about a sweet gig, Carollyne!  Congratulations and best of luck with your issue!

And before I get back to editing, why don’t we all take a little YouTube Break!

(It’s about writing, so it’s totally allowed.)

Enjoy the wise words of Meg Cabot …

Happy writing! 🙂

About Laura Bowers

Laura is a writer, runner, reader, runDisney addict, and blogger at As The Eraser Burns, Joyful Miles, and Write, Run, Rejoice. In the past, she's been a waitress, telemarketer, cook, real estate agent, and during her college days, a costumed character at holiday parades. (Memories of being terrorized as a candy cane still haunt her at night.) At the age of thirty, she pursued her dream of being a writer. Her first novel, Beauty Shop for Rent, a “Steel Magnolias for teens,” was inspired by a rusted sign by a charming old house, and now, she can honestly say that writing is a thousand times more rewarding than being a candy cane!
